A body in motion tends to stay in motion... and CBD can help keep you moving!
Here at Oasis, we are all about living an active lifestyle to benefit the mind and the body. Movement really is medicine! But, no matter what kind of movement motivates you, whether it's walking, running, hiking, cycling, weight training, etc... there can be aches and pains along the way.
While things like pain, inflammation, stress, and lack of sleep can really slow you down, CBD actively works to combat these things and get you back on your feet doing what you love!
There are many reasons why CBD may be useful for athletic performance or just an active lifestyle in general. As you may remember from one of our previous posts, The Endocannabinoid system is a human body system that helps keep your body in homeostasis by working with endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids (like CBD)- regulating things like mood, appetite, metabolism, sleep, stress, etc. Because of this, CBD can have a positive impact on these processes. Truth be told- it is the perfect pre or post-workout aid!
CBD possesses pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties.
Pain and inflammation from a sweaty workout session can slow down your recovery time and make for an overall unpleasant experience. Managing pain and guarding against injury is important not only for recovery but also for longevity. Aside from the pain-relieving properties of CBD, it also works as an excellent anti-inflammatory to protect against overuse and further injury during sustained periods of exercise. Though inflammation is important in the recovery process, it can hinder your athletic ability during exercise.
CBD is a natural Vasorelaxant.
This means that CBD relaxes the vascular system; reducing the tension in the walls of your blood vessels and improving blood circulation. When the walls of your blood vessels are dilated, it leads to increased oxygen and nutrient uptake by the muscle tissue. With easier oxygen and nutrient uptake, your muscles can work longer and harder. This can be extremely beneficial for those with an active lifestyle or athletes of any kind. In addition to this, CBD may also be useful in reducing your blood pressure.
CBD can help regulate your anxiety and stress levels.
For some of us, stress and anxiety can cause low motivation and poor performance.
When you are stressed, your body releases a hormone called Cortisol. Cortisol is not the enemy- and it can help us regulate a number of bodily functions, but, since many of us live high-stress lifestyles, our bodies may be producing cortisol at a much higher rate. CBD helps to lower levels of cortisol released- resulting in steady, lower stress levels throughout the day.
CBD can improve your quality of sleep.
CBD is known to provide users with a better quality of sleep. But, this doesn't mean daytime drowsiness- it actually has the opposite effect. Mental clarity is heightened and brain fog/fatigue is known to be reduced while taking CBD. But, when your head finally does hit the pillow for the night, rest assured, your sleep quality and duration will be positively impacted. This can be beneficial for everyone, but especially if you live an active lifestyle. Sleep is crucial to recovery, mood, and energy levels. Waking up with a refreshed energy to tackle the day makes all the difference in your overall performance!
CBD can also help with digestion issues such as indigestion and internal inflammation.
CBD can help to support gut motility (stretching and contractions of the muscles in the GI tract) and aid in treating things like bloating, constipation, and inflammation. In addition to this, CBD can positively impact your hunger signaling cues and help ensure that you are properly fueling your active body. Also known as The Enteric Nervous System, your gut is like your second brain! Keeping your gut in check plays a huge role in regulating your overall health.
Because of all these reasons and more, athletes around the world, including numerous professional athletes, are passionate about what CBD can do for their active lifestyle. And speaking from experience, it really will take your workouts, recovery, and sleep to a whole new level!
